Bill HindsElectric, acoustic, and slide guitars; vocals
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Bill Hinds began gigging at age 15 around a regional music scene that included The Commodores, Tommy Shaw, Beth Nielson-Chapman, and a score of equally gifted, if less well known, singers, players, and songwriters. He moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama in 1986 to be a session guitarist with credits including Wayne Newton, Roy Orbison, Johnny Taylor, Mac McAnally, Sawyer Brown, Denise LaSalle, Shenandoah, Dobie Gray, The Forester Sisters, and Huey Lewis & The News. Bill met Paul Thorn while living in Muscle Shoals and has been Paul's mainstay guitarist ever since. He also oversees Paul's internet presence and web strategy. Bill has now relocated to his hometown of Montgomery, where he occasionally gigs locally and teaches guitar.
Dr. LovePiano, organ, and synthesizer
Also known as Michael Graham, The Doctor is an accomplished musician (guitar, keyboards, and probably other stuff we don’t know about), audio engineer, and bon vivant who hails from New Albany, Mississippi. When he is not on the road playing a variety of Nord keyboards with the Paul Thorn Band, he is in the studio engineering and editing records, podcasts, DVDs, and all other things audio. As a matter of fact, Michael has engineered most of Paul's audio and video projects. In addition to being a super-talented individual, Dr. Love is the organization’s resident expert.
Ralph FriedrichsenBass guitar, vocals
Ralph Friedrichsen has been playing bass and singing harmony for the Paul Thorn Band since May 2010. He is originally from Portland, Oregon, where he became an accomplished piano player and later took up guitar and bass. While in Portland, Ralph played in several bands around the Pacific Northwest and began writing songs during that time. He eventually moved to Los Angeles, where he played in a couple of original bands and did a variety of freelance work. While he was in California, Ralph met his wife, Annie, an Albuquerque, New Mexico native, and they moved to Nashville in 1994. Before joining the PTB, Ralph toured and recorded with country artists such as Suzy Bogguss, Jo Dee Messina, Collin Raye and Keith Anderson.
"It's a real pleasure to know and work with all the folks in the Paul Thorn organization. Everyone brings their own unique talents to keep the wheels turning on the road and in the studio. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful people who attend the shows. Your support makes it possible for us to keep doing this thing we love."
Jeffrey PerkinsDrums and percussion
Jeffrey Perkins has held the drum seat for the Paul Thorn Band since 1997. He was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up playing football and drumming in several bands before moving to Nashville. Jeffrey's 30-plus year career includes stints with a diverse group of notable acts such as The Dusters, Billy Joe Shaver, Rayon City Quartet, Etta and Bob Britt, John Jorgenson (guitarist with Elton John), and Hank Williams Jr, along with numerous other singer/songwriters and bands. All of this has resulted in logging many hours on the road, in the studio, on radio and TV shows, and to this moment, non-stop merriment with Paul and the fellows. Jeffrey is an endorser of Vic Firth drumsticks, Paiste cymbals, and Evans drumheads. He owns five drum kits (anchored by his Slingerland Radio Kings), countless snare drums, and all sorts of other percussive foolishness.
